After being saved from cancelation by Showtime, Uncoupled has paused production on Season 2 due to the ongoing writers strike.

The romantic comedy series first debuted on Netflix last year, quickly making its way onto the streamer’s Top 10 list. Netflix, however, decided to pull the plug on the show after one season.

Luckily for star Neil Patrick Harris and the rest of the cast and crew, Showtime picked up Uncoupled for a second season.

The show planned to begin filming Season 2 in July, but due to the ongoing writers strike, production has been delayed indefinitely.

Harris revealed this unfortunate news while addressing the state of the show on The View. According to Harris, the new plan is to regroup on set as soon as the strike comes to an end. Of course, nobody knows just yet exactly when that will be, but Harris is hoping that it will happen while it’s still warm outside.

“We were going to start filming it in the beginning of July but the writers strike is happening,” said the actor, per The Hollywood Reporter. “So, everything is sort of on pause – go writers, writers strong… We’re just going to wait until that [writers strike] plays itself out.”

Harris added, “Hopefully we’ll be able to start filming in warm weather. We filmed season one in cold weather and it’s less fun to have like dating shows where you’re walking down Central Park and like freezing and shivering. [It’s] more fun in a tank top.”

Created by Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman, Uncoupled centers on a single gay man who enters the dating scene after getting abruptly dumped by his partner of 17 years. In addition to Harris, the series stars Tuc Watkins, Tisha Campbell, Marcia Gay Harden, Emerson Brooks, and Brooks Ashmanskas.

Uncoupled joins a growing list of shows, including Stranger Things, Big Mouth and Cobra Kai, that are facing delays and productions pauses amid the WGA strike that began on May 2.
